Rugby: more than a sport,
a community

Every game is an opportunity for kids to strengthen their bodies, sharpen their minds, and discover the motivation that comes from being part of something bigger than themselves.

Our teams

Get in to rugby - under 4s to under 7s

Our weekly non-contact rugby program for boys and girls aged 4 to 7 is all about combining fun with skill development. Through exciting, game-based activities, children naturally improve their running, movement, evasion, and catching while feeling supported and encouraged. Every session is designed to spark joy and confidence, helping kids stay active, motivated, and resilient. Beyond the physical benefits, the program creates a welcoming space where young players connect with peers, build friendships, and discover the pride of being part of a team.

Pathways program - u8s to u10s

Our U8s–U10s program invites young players to give rugby a go, have fun, and build friendships in a supportive, inclusive environment. With twice-weekly training and friendly, non-competition matches in the Rugby Victoria Junior Competition, kids develop skills, confidence, and teamwork. Guided by our values of Respect, Inclusivity, Pride, and Enjoyment, they don’t just learn the game — they grow as individuals and experience the true spirit of community rugby.

Junior Competition - Under 12s to U18s

As Panthers kids grow and develop, rugby becomes a pathway to unlocking their full potential in a safe, positive, and supportive environment. For our U12s–U18s, training takes on a more structured format, with clear pathways that help older players strive for peak performance and maximise their abilities. Competing in Rugby Victoria’s round-robin competition, Panthers teams play weekly matches against other clubs, with the season culminating in an exciting finals series. These competitions welcome all who want to be part of the game, offering not only skill development and healthy competition but also the chance to experience the true positives of rugby — strong team camaraderie, lifelong friendships, and the pride of wearing Panthers colours. Looking ahead, we’re thrilled to announce that the Northern Panthers will be fielding an U18s team in 2026, giving our players the opportunity to continue their rugby journey at the highest junior level.

In the 2025 season, the Northern Panthers proudly fielded teams from U4s through to U16s in partnership with our merger club, the Shepparton Bulls. It was a year of strong performances, with both our U12s and U16s Girls teams reaching the finals, and our U16s Girls going on to claim the prestigious Silei Etuale Cup. Our U14 and U16 Boys teams also impressed, making it through to the semi-finals before falling just short of progressing further. Building on past success, the Panthers celebrated our U14s reaching the grand final in the 2024 season — a testament to the resilience, growth, and talent across our junior ranks.

our club

Since 2004, the Northern Panthers Rugby Club has proudly called C.H. Sullivan Memorial Park Reserve home, with dedicated rugby facilities that include modern clubrooms, three playing fields, a large canteen and bar, an office, medical room, and multiple storerooms. In 2024, we expanded further through a partnership with Mernda Central College, establishing a second training location and laying the foundations to host game days there in the near future.

The rugby season kicks off with pre-season training in February and March, before competition rounds run from April through September.
